Labour Law

Labour Law

Labour law, also known as employment law, is a body of law that regulates the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of employers, employees, and trade unions in the workplace.

It includes a wide range of topics such as employment contracts, wages and benefits, workplace safety, discrimination and harassment, termination of employment, and collective bargaining.

Labour law is important because it establishes a framework for the relationship between employers and employees, and it provides a level of protection for employees against unfair treatment and abuse of power.

It also helps to ensure that workers are compensated fairly and that their working conditions are safe and healthy.

One of our company directors has extensive experience chairing disciplinary hearings and is well-placed to advise employers on how to handle grievances and dismissals fairly.

Further assistance can also be given should a case be referred to the Labour Court or the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
